Deputy Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oksana Syroyid has taken part in annual Tiger Conference organized by Kyiv Post.

Oksana Syroyid noted that Ukraine has not established Ukrainian state institutions. "24 years ago, when Ukraine declared its independence, then only the tablets were changed — KGB was renamed as SBU [Security Service of Ukraine], etc. However, no systemic changes were provided. The Security Service continued working with the same old people, who had previously worked for the KGB. Thus, today Ukraine has the task to re-launch all state institutions. Currently this in some way is happening to the prosecutor's office, it is about to happen to the judicial system, which requires absolutely new system of judges, starting with the Supreme Court and ending with the courts of first instance," she said.

"This should happen to every state institution — from ministries to headquarters. We have to re-establish these institutions and give an opportunity to new people to work under democratic standards. The supremacy of law starts with democratic institutions and their ability to work," Syroyid said.
